Hi Skippy,

Sort of sounds like the modern day equivalent of the old SEN (before anyone gets the wrong idea about that comment I know a lot of SENs that were way better than RNs they just chose to take a different route into nursing) - the title is a little confusing though.

Who do you assist? It sounds from your last comment about clinics that you work with a degree of autonomy? Geek

Yes I do have autonomy. i am responsible and accountable for what I  do... hoping we become registered soon.. Iwas an HCA for 10 yrs in Endocopy b4 becoming an A/P
I have the full support of clinicians and nurses...i assist both in clinics and recovery.I have my own pts...i admit and discharge patients from clinics... i can decide when a pt is fit to leave the department. i manage airways in gastrosopy clinics and assist therapeutic interventions although in certain clinics where two nurses are require there is a band 5 or above present. I have completed competences for every thing i do.. A/Ps is a fairy new role nhs wide...people are saying it is the same... but on the other hand different to an sen..Smile
