Hi
I'm new to the site and I'm looking for advice. If anyone could take the time to offer some advice I'd be so grateful. I'm a qualified adult RGN in the UK qualifying in 2006. I started my career in ITU/HDU and loved it but following spinal surgery decided to change to GUM (an area I'd always had an interest) I recently moved into school health as it felt like a natural progression from sexual health. However I was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and due to this I've had 10 months off, I'm now coming to the end if treatment and looking forward to getting back to work after hopefully negative scan. The thing is its totally changed my life and I now really want to get into oncology with the hope of eventually specialising in lymphomas and working with teens and young adults. I'm so keen to do this but terrified I won't be able to, as a school health staff nurse I've become quite de skilled and I'm looking for any advice of how I can change direction to work in haemo- oncology I'm determined to get there, any suggestions would be so appreciated I'm willing to do pretty much anything to get there (within reason) I'm 28 at the mo so I feel I've got time on my side!! Any help as I've said would be great thanks. |
